"I love to do yoga and watch movies in my free time. I joined AMWA because I love building other women up and helping others reach their full potential in the medical field. My favorite thing about AMWA is interacting with other members. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. It is also nice to be around others who are driven by similar goals! In the future, I hope to become a PA and specialize in labor and delivery!"

Anne Marie is a freshman majoring in Public Health who enjoys playing music (piano, violin, viola, and organ). "I joined AMWA because I wanted to be part of an organization with other women in STEM who had similar career goals to mine. My favorite thing about AMWA is the support it gives you in the competitive STEM field and the vast opportunities it offers that help you make connections and gain valuable experience!"

"I joined AMWA because it opened a network to meet with other pre-med students, all while providing unique opportunities to get involved in the healthcare field. April is a senior majoring in Health Promotion who enjoys shopping and learning new recipes. "I joined AMWA because I was unsure whether or not I should pursue the medical school or graduate school route. I also wanted to make new friends! My favorite things about AMWA are definitely the Mentor-Mentee Program & fun socials!"

"I joined AMWA because I could tell that it is a great community for women pursuing a career in health care. My favorite things about AMWA are the opportunities & the amazing women who are a part of this organization & inspire me every day!"

Isabella is a freshman majoring in Biology, who enjoys reading and volunteering in her free time. "I hope to go the medical school to become either a physician, a surgeon, or a pathologist. My favorite thing about AMWA is how there are so many activities and volunteering opportunities. I joined AMWA because I wanted to be a part of something meaningful and eventful, and AMWA does a really great job of that."

Fernanda Varela
Fernanda is a freshman majoring in biomedical engineering and minoring in Spanish. In the future, she wants to become a physician. In her free time she likes to read, volunteer, and spend time with her family. She joined AMWA this fall semester because she liked how AMWA is a sisterhood that supports and encourages each other to grow. Also, AMWA has the tools to help their members succeed in their academic careers.

Stephanie is a freshman majoring in Biology. After she graduates she wants to become a Physician Assistant specialized in pediatric oncology or OB/GYN. In her free time she likes to read, volunteer, spend time with her loved ones, and connect with nature. Her favorite part about AMWA is that it is an organization that encourages women to be the best version of themselves and provides plenty of resources to help succeed.

Sarai is a junior majoring in Health and minoring in Nutrition. After graduating, she wants to apply to UH’s nursing program and become an Registered Nurse. In her free time Sarai likes to work out and spend time with her family. Her favorite thing about AMWA is the female community and being able to volunteer to serve our local community.

Emerald Zaw is a pre-med student majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in medicine and society, health, and chemistry. Emerald has been an AMWA member for 3 years. She joined our organization because she loved the close knit community and because she wanted to take part in empowering women in health.

Ivie Rocha
Ivie Rocha is a junior majoring in biology and minoring in mathematics as well as medicine and society. In the near future, she wants to go to graduate school. In her free time, she likes to paint and knit. In 2016, she joined AMWA because she loved how welcoming and friendly everyone was to each other. "This was the most notable factor that made AMWA stand out from other pre-health organizations, and that's why I chose to be a part of AMWA."
